Letter of Support: Tom Heaney

Dear Fellow Middletown Resident,

            I am writing to provide my unqualified support for Dennis Turano’s re-election to the Middletown Town Council. I know and respect Dennis. Our friendship goes back to our school days here in Middletown. He’s a true ‘islander’ who has a deep appreciation for our unique community.

            As a town councilman, Dennis has a proven track record. He’s applied his knowledge of the town, its residents, and the town’s needs and challenges.  His actions as a town councilman are always weighed by what serves the residents and our town best.

Dennis is a businessman who knows the value of a ‘buck.’ He has been a fiscally responsible leader and is a good steward of the town’s resources. He’s advocated to reform the town’s tax assessment model. His driving principle was to make residential and commercial taxes more transparent, predictable, and equitable for all residents and businesses. As part of this reform, he led an initiative to provide tax breaks for seniors who own homes. Dennis is also working to attain additional housing options for seniors.

As a ‘local,’ Dennis knows we have to balance businesses compatible with the town’s character. Attracting and retaining businesses is important to the town’s solvency. Providing and maintaining town services (police, fire/rescue, public works, etc.) are fundamental to sustaining a strong community. Finally, providing a first–class education system (facilities, quality teachers and administrators) keeps Middletown competitive as a desired place to live and raise our families.

These are a few of the many reasons I am once again supporting Dennis for re-election. I ask you to join me and vote to re-elect Dennis Turano’s to the Middletown Town council.
